Welcome Coach Phil Rose, Our New Director of Coaching
Meet Coach Phil Rose
|Coach Phil is highly qualified, experienced coach, coach educator and
skills trainer. A professional youth soccer coach since 1986 Coach Phil
has coached players and coaches of all ages and abilities. An FYSA and
Mississippi Soccer Association State Olympic Development Program Staff
coach he also served the National Soccer Coaches Association (NSCAA) as
State Director for the West of Florida for 10 years. Coach has been an
NSCAA Academy Staff Instructor since 1995 and has mentored many hundreds
of coaches. Coach Phil is a certified Coerver Coaching Instructor and
has coached soccer in Texas, Arkansas, Alabama, Mississippi, Virginia,
Florida and as a staff instructor at many College, ODP, club and soccer
training organization camps and clinics. In 1996 and 1998 Coach was part
of the coaching staff of the US Men’s National Paralympic Soccer team
that participated in the Paralympic Games in Atlanta and the World
Paralympic Championships in Rio Brazil. His most recent coaching
assignment has been head coach of Mississippi Soccer Association 04 and
05 Boys State ODP teams in tournaments in St Louis and Dallas in May and
Coach’s qualifications include:
- USSF B license, NSCAA Premier Diploma, NSCAA Advanced National Diploma, NSCAA High School Coach Diploma, Coerver Youth Diploma, NESTA Certified Personal Trainer, ASFA Youth Fitness Instructor and SAQ Certificate.
- Coach Phil played soccer growing up in England. He played high school and then for various men’s teams and after obtaining several coaching certificates from England FA, in 1990 he started his coaching career at a local semi-pro team when he was appointed as player/assistant coach.
- As well as a club coaching career coach has spent the last 20 years as a freelance professional coach and has been a clinician in many parts of the world. In 2009 he was a featured clinician at NSCAA Annual Coaches Convention in January 2009.
Coach Phil is proud to be the Director of Coaching for Starkville Soccer Association and hopes to serve the soccer community for many years to come.
